Don't get caught with your pants down!

The Creation...

A few years ago, my wife (Virginia) was sitting in the parking lot at Cardiff Reef surf spot in Cardiff, California watching a mother hold a beach towel out in front of her child. The mother and child argued about whether the towel was sufficiently covering the kid enough to undress and get into some warm dry clothes. She also noticed a rather hairy, heavyset gentlemen struggling with his "almost" waist high wrap-around towel, with his butt crack hanging out while attempting to change into dry shorts.

As she listened to the arguing, and watched the woolly mammoth butt crack man, she thought...

"There must be a better way"

I remember her coming home that day very excited about a new idea she had for a beach changing towel. It sounded like a good idea so we called her mother (Louise) to see if she would be willing to make a couple prototypes with her sewing machine. The prototypes worked great and gave us the encouragement we needed to move forward.

We eventually had 125 TogaBeach changing towels made locally, which we proceeded to sell, give away, and use ourselves as a way of getting feedback to improve the product. We came up with improvements like:

  • Better material
  • Bigger logo
  • Inside pocket
  • Smaller shoulder size for kids

There are still improvements to be made, ideas to be realized, and woolly mammoths to cover, but in the meantime we will continue to make the best product we possibly can.

Hey Mike, as you know, I bought a TogaTowel for my granddaughter before Christmas. Her mother said my granddaughter is out of the locker room from swim practice in half the time now. She is loving the TogaTowel as much as my granddaughter & is happy to spread the word!
